Love Stockholm 2010 with Ikea

Play / Ikea project Posted on May 26, 2010 14:18

Love at Last Sight -2010

In-Co-Dependent Project

Elective Courses Posted on May 26, 2010 12:40

I was interested in developing my X-STUDIO project during this course.
However, with time it developed into something else called What’s In Your Bag?.
It investigates the cultural
segregation in
Stockholm.

I want to design bags that communicate with each other. The bags are friends. There are 100 different bags, each one representing a tube station from Stockholm’s underground.

The 100 stations have been abbreviated to:

BGRMSSN BJRKHGN BLCKBRG
BLST BNDHGN BRDNG
BRGSHMR BRHMSBRG BRMMPLN
DNDRDS SJKHS DNPLN DVB
FRDHMSPLN FRNGN FRST
FRST STRND FTTJA GBBNGEN
GLBN GLLMRSPLN GML STN
GRDT HGDLN HGRSTNSSN
HGSTR HJLST HKRNGN
HLLNBRGN HLLND HMMRBHJDN
HRNSTLL HSB HSSLB STRND
HSSLBGRD HTRGT HVDST
JHNNELND KLL KNGSTRDGRDN
KRLPLN KRRTRP KRSTNBRG
KSHV KST LB
LLJHLMN LVK MDBRGRPLTSN
MDSMMRKRNS MLRHJDN MRB CNTRM
MRTRGT MSM NCKRSN
NGBPLN NRSBRG NSKDGRD
NVRSTTT RCKST RDMNSGTN
RGSVD RNKB RNSBRG
RPSTN RSSN SCKNPLN
SKGSKYRKGRDN SKNSTULL SKRHLMN
SKRMRBRNK SKRPNCK SLN CNTRM
SLNDSTRGT SLSSN SNDBBRGS CNTRM SNDSBRG
SPDDN ST RKSPLN STDM
STDSHGN STR STR
MSSN STRB STRMLMSTRG
SVDMYRA T CNTRLN THRLDSPLN
TKNSK HGSKLN TLFNPLN
TLLKRGN TNST VLLNGB
VRB GRD VRBRG VRTN
VSTR SKGN VSTRTRP XLSBRG
ZNKNSDMM

The initial idea for distributing the bags was to randomly place them in people’s mailboxes that is situated close to the tube stations. However, this might change. The bags are apart of a game that encourages people to interact with strangers and to travel to the different stations.

When the bags come in a close range of eachother they would talk to each other, through sound. They incoporate some type of rfid technology, which also make it possible to track the bags by using the SL ticket machines. (This must be negotiated with SL, Stockholms Transport System).

That Depends…Sustainability in Design Practice

Elective Courses Posted on May 26, 2010 12:32

During this course I designed a project idea called X-STUDIO.

X-STUDIO is a
studio, shop, office, meeting place, gallery and workshop all in one.
The studio would be managed by several people who all carry knowledge
and experiences from different disciplines, but who work within design.
They would strive to focus on social, environmental and service design
as it is what they feel to be the most important and necessary. The
designers would be there to inspire others and available to give help
with various design issues.
